Just saw the 1967 film The Graduate and I knew I had to do a post based on Benjamin (played by Dustin Hoffman) and his wonderful ivy style.
We’ve been talking about eBay a lot lately, thanks to the 3 for $75 deal and the recent vintage Brooks Brothers sack suit. Even though eBay is highly curated (which makes it easy to find cool vintage pieces), nothing beats the thrill of hunting for cool stuff at thrift stores like Goodwill or Savers. My latest pick up was this amazing, almost-deadstock olive green sack jacket!
While I have gotten extremely lucky buying suits at Goodwill, eBay always seems to hold up, especially if you want something ivy! Unlike 1930’s suits or modern Ring Jacket suits, vintage pieces from the 1960s-1970s tends to be fairly cheap and readily available. A lot of people don’t like buying clothes from eBay. Sellers don’t often provide accurate measurements, they don’t accept returns, and sometimes the items are just not what you expected. However, I don’t believe that this should bar you from trying to buy on eBay. You might be able to find something awesome, like I did with my “new” 1960’s ivy suit.
