Resources For Dressing Vintage and Vintage-Inspired
Dapper Day is finally here, and while I do like to write a post each time (to help you get dressed), I thought it would be helpful to compile a list of articles that I think can help you get started with vintage or vintage inspired style!

Tailoring a $3 Thrifted Suit: A Brown Chalkstripe Three Piece

I’m always on the lookout for cheap, vintage suits. You’re guaranteed to find great suits at vintage stores like Joyride or from sellers like Benny, but there’s nothing like the feeling like scoring a great piece at a thrift store. If you look hard enough and have great patience, you can definitely find some cool stuff! And sometimes, you’ll find it on a sale day where your suit will cost $3.
Wearing Non-Navy, Patch Pocket Sportcoats

We love to wear sportcoats. Suits definitely have their place, but we typically like to wear odd jackets and odd trousers just for the sake of being able to combine different colors and patterns. As most people know, the most versatile sportcoat is the navy one; it’s used as a grounding device to play with other pieces. Numerous fashion blogs talk about the navy blazer, but we’re different. We like classic clothes, but that doesn’t mean boring! Instead of the expected #menswear spiel , we’re going to show you some cool NON-NAVY sportcoats that happen to feature one of our favorite details: patch pockets.

This first one comes to me from Jacob, a reader who is concerned about finding a jacket that fits from eBay! Since I buy a lot of my clothes online, I thought it best to tell him my process for buying these vintage pieces. Here’s a hint: it’s all in the shoulders and length.
