It’s been an odd spring here in Southern California. The weather has been going up and down; at the time of writing this article, the weather was at the low 70s! Might not be bad for you East Coast people, but it’s definitely weird for us!
Thanks to the cooler weather, Rajesh and I took this opportunity to experiment with both layers and ball caps. It’s not the newest of trends, but it’s definitely something new for both of us. How do you think we did?
We used Part 1 to look at dapper day in the actual parks, but there was also some style at the Dapper Day expo! This was the place to go if you wanted to buy vintage items, get some cool accessories, or even swing dance. For those of you who don’t want to buy a ticket to Disneyland or California Adventure, head to next year’s expo! It’s totally free!
Just like the last few times, I went around and shot some cool looks that I saw at Dapper Day! I know that this is a menswear blog, but I included some gals as well. Just remember that this is only a small sample of the crowds that showed up at Disneyland.
It is also important to understand that many of these people don’t dress up everyday. Some of these people don’t know the rules of classical tailoring or true vintage style, but thats okay! Dapper Day isn’t Pitti Uomo or a New York Fashion week. It’s about expressing your style and having fun! Here’s the first half of the street style I shot.
Dapper Day is my version of Pitti Uomo; street style abounds! People are able to go around Disneyland and dress up in style, whether its vintage, vintage inspired, or modern! Since it is Spring, the guys and I decided to take our vintage style to the next level. Most people make the misconception that vintage clothes are all made of thick wools and are only available in muted, boring colors. However, the 1940’s were still stylin’ in hot weather! They had a variety of fabrics that were still breathable and and comfortable to wear and were especially light colored for spring and summer fashion! Lately we’ve been focusing on some editorial content, like wearing a polo with a suit or wearing a double breasted suit. It’s time to take a short break from my mouthpiece and take a look at what the guys have been wearing lately! While a majority of the outfits on this blog are sartorially themed, each of us put our personality into each of our outfits. They might all involve trousers, dress shoes, and button-up shirts, but it’s the unexpected pieces that truly mark our personal style.
I am a firm believer that suits can be dressed down. As spring has officially started here in America, it’s time to bring those sartorial pieces down a notch so you can keep cool and look good! One great and often misunderstood piece to turn your suits casual is the polo shirt. It’s no longer just for academy uniforms or baggy business casual drones.
